Project Overview

Water Ingress

Based in Southampton, this Junior School required a full investigation into ongoing water ingress affecting the building, along with the remedial works needed to permanently resolve the issue.

The project began with a series of preliminary meetings, working closely with architects and the client to develop budgets and finalise plans before works commenced on site. Our team then set up a scaffold to safely access the affected area, removing the surrounding metal cladding to reach the windows, and carefully taking out the clerestory windows for re-installation once works were complete.

With access secured, our team investigated the area thoroughly to identify the exact means of water ingress. All damaged timber was replaced and the opening prepared for a new lead tray, installed across the full width to properly support the window, along with further waterproofing works to ensure a permanent fix.

The clerestory windows were then re-installed into the newly prepared opening, a new breathable membrane fitted behind the metal cladding, and the cladding reinstalled. The completed works were water tested to confirm the fix, before the scaffold was removed and the project handed over to the client.
